New to Recovery Dharma?
Everything you need to know to get started
Welcome
Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement that uses Buddhist practices and principles to heal from addiction and other forms of suffering. We welcome anyone seeking freedom from addictive, compulsive, and habitual behaviors.
What to Expect
Our meetings typically include a guided meditation, a reading from Recovery Dharma literature, and open sharing. Meetings are free and open to all in recovery. You do not need any prior experience with meditation or Buddhism. Some meetings are also "open meetings" where anyone can attend and share, while others are "closed meetings" that are only for those who identify as having a recovery issue. Check the meeting details to see which type it is.
The Four Noble Truths in Relation to Recovery
- In this life there is suffering. Addiction creates suffering.
- There is a cause of suffering. We get attached to things being other than they are.
- There is an end to suffering. Recovery is possible.
- The Path leads to the end of suffering. Recovery is the Eightfold Path.
